State Representative Charlie Davis’s Letter to the Editor explains why he is fighting to #defendRTW.
In July 23rd’s Springfield News-Leader:
Unions are currently engaging in a petition campaign to stop Right-to-Work from taking effect in Missouri. Right-to-Work means worker freedom, but union bosses are concerned about losing their power and influence with national labor leaders in Washington, D.C.
Right-to-Work is not a new, experimental concept. Right-to-Work has been around for years. Right-to-Work returns power and freedom to Missouri employees. Workers would not be forced to join a union as part of a job, and the union leaders would have to deliver for the local members, instead of national labor leaders.
Right-to-Work means union bosses could no longer rely on forcing workers to join and pay dues to support the laundry list of liberal causes pushed by labor leaders in our nation’s capital. The dues local union members pay help fund left-wing causes like restrictions on the Second Amendment, support for pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood and oppose efforts to end sanctuary cities.
Union bosses are terrified of losing power and that is why they oppose Right-to-Work. I will defend Right-to-Work because it empowers Missouri workers.
